Many a times the lord comes to us to fellowship us but he just doesnt find in us a fertile ground,not because He isnt ready but because we arent ready to bury our pride and come to the school of the spirit,we are so proud that we dont want to patiently sit under the tutorledge of the holyspirit but brag about,teaching others from human Wisdom not remembering that its only a foolish man that will try to explain the Bible with his human intelligence.
Oh some of us even go about laying hands without patiently waiting on God for the power to take charge over demons,we allow high shoulder tuxedo siuts to deceive us and think because we wear bow ties like Pastor Adeboye we too can command demons.Ask Pastor Adeboye,he too had a level of fellowship and walk with God before he started commandind demons,we've heard of stories where demons have beaten Pastors up.Let me put it to us that the only reason we might have not been attacked or beaten by demons is because of God's Mercy and His name that He doesnt want to drag in the mud.
God seeks a deeper and closer relationship with Him,he wants us to stop working for Him in ingnorance but walk with Him.
He wants to reveal deep secreats to us and give us the answer to the long lasting questions the scientists and academicians have been asking and effortlessly researching for.
He wants to take us to the hight where people will not need spectacles to see that we carry God's presence.
Some of us have even strayed but He is taking it upon Himself to bring us back home.

The lord is calling us all to a closer walk with him.......

THE LIFE OF THE MAN "JOSIAH OLUFEMI AKINDAYOMI"

Nigeria
Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi was the
founder and first general overseer of what
is today known as the Redeemed
Christian Church of God. The church,
today acclaimed as the fastest growing
Pentecostal church in the world, started
in 1947 as an independent prayer
fellowship, the Glory of God Fellowship.
This group blossomed into the Redeemed
Christian Church of God in 1952.
Josiah was born in 1909 into the
Akindayomi family in Ondo State, Nigeria.
From early childhood Josiah's parents
noticed unusual things about him. When
he was sick, alledgedly his sickness, that
usually defied traditional medecin-the
most common treatment for sickness in
those days-would abate and subsequently
disappear once he was bathed with
ordinary water. Josiah himself also had an
inkling that he was different, for although
he grew up in an environment where the
worship of Ogun (the Yoruba divinity of
iron and war) was prevalent, he was
aware of the existence of a greater power
and yearned to know the true God who
created the earth and everyone in it.
His yearning after God led him into the
Anglican Church where he was baptized in
1927. Still spiritually unfulfilled, he joined
the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in
1931. A few years later he began to hear
a voice inside him declaring that he would
be a minister of God. He was not at ease
with this voice, which he identified as
God's call to full time ministry. For seven
years he ignored it, since he had never
intended to be a pastor. During this
period, virtually everything went wrong
for him. All his business ventures failed;
heavily in debt and without peace of
mind, he found himself totally dependent
on the grace of God.
The turning point for Josiah came when,
in 1940, he dreamed of an old man
scratching his leg. He woke up the next
morning with a sore on his leg that
deteriorated significantly within a short
period of time. Then he heard the voice
inside him telling him to submit to God's
will and to serve him. When he asked for
signs to confirm that the call was from
God he was given the following passages
as confirmation: Jeremiah 1:4-10, Isaiah
41:10-13, and Romans 8:29-31. [1]
Without the use of medication, the Lord
healed the sore on his leg. This marked
the beginning of a definite relationship
with God. Totally broken, he yielded to
God, saying, "Lord I will go wherever you
want me to go." The Lord assured him
that he would provide for all his needs as
he would henceforth receive no salary
from anyone. This promise from the Lord
was a comforting reminder to him during
his trials in subsequent months.
Akindayomi was married in 1947 and
relocated to Lagos in the latter part of
that year. In Lagos, he worshipped with
the Cherubim and Seraphim Church at its
Ibadan Street, Ebute-Metta branch,
where Prophet Onanuga, the immediate
successor to Prophet Moses Orimolade,
the church founder, was the leader. He
was still with the church in 1947 when a
zeal for a better service and a deeper
experience with God prompted him to
start the prayer fellowship later known as
the Glory of God Fellowship that met at 9,
Willougby Street, Ebute-Metta, Lagos.
Initially there were nine members;
however the fellowship gradually grew as
the news of the miracles that occurred in
their midst spread. It became so popular
that it drew not only members of the
church, but others from the
neighborhood.
By 1952 he felt persuaded to leave the
Cherubim and Seraphim Church. The
fellowship he had started then grew into
the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
The name of the church was said to have
been revealed to the founder in a vision.
Allegedly the letters forming the name of
the church appeared in the English
alphabet to Akindayomi, who could
neither read nor write. Miraculously he
was able to scribble down the individual
letters which, when put together, read
"The Redeemed Christian Church of God."
This has been the name of the church
ever since.
In this same vision God promised to take
the church to the ends of the earth and
declared that the Lord Jesus Christ would
meet the church when he returned in
glory. The Lord also established a
covenant with Akindayomi similar to the
Abrahamic covenant in the Bible,
promising to meet all the needs of the
church in wonderful ways if only members
would serve Him faithfully and be
obedient to His Word. The Redeemed
Christian Church of God was formed,
based on this covenant, in 1952. The
church continued to meet at 9 Willoughby
Street until they acquired some land and
relocated to their headquarters at 1-5
Redemption Way, Ebute-Metta, Lagos
(formerly 1a Cemetery Street). In the
1950s it was quite fashionable for
Nigerian independent churches to affiliate
with overseas ministries for expansion
purposes. However, according to sources,
God strongly instructed the Redeemed
Christian Church of God not to merge
with any foreign or overseas body. Today
the church has become one of the fastest
growing Pentecostal churches in the
world.
Like Moses in the Bible, Akindayomi
named his successor before his death. In
the early 1970s God had told him that his
successor, who was not yet a member of
the church, would be a young educated
man. Thus when a young university
lecturer joined the church in 1973,
Akindayomi was able to recognize him in
the Spirit as the one whom the Lord had
spoken of. This man, Enoch Adejare
Adeboye, a lecturer in mathematics at the
University of Lagos, soon became involved
in the activities of the church. He became
one of the interpreters translating
Akindayomi's sermons from the Yoruba
language into English. He was ordained a
pastor of the church in 1975.
One day the Lord revealed to Akindayomi
that it was time for him to die. He then
sent for Pastor Adeboye and spent
several hours with him, sharing the
details of the covenant and the plans of
the Lord for the church. A year earlier,
the Lord had revealed to Pastor Adeboye
that he would be Akindayomi's successor,
but it was too difficult for him to fully
contemplate such an awesome
responsibility. Akindayomi died in 1980 at
the age of 71. Thereafter Pastor
Adeboye's appointment was formalized
and he has since been the general
overseer of the church.
Today God is still doing powerful work
through the Redeemed Christian Church
of God worldwide. In 1981 there was an
explosion of growth in the number of
parishes. At the last count there were
about 2,000 parishes of the church in
Nigeria. The church is also present in
other African nations, including: Côte
d'Ivoire, Ghana, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire,
Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Gambia,
Cameroon, and South Africa. In Europe
the church has spread to England,
Germany, and France. In the Americas
there are U.S. parishes in Dallas,
Tallahassee, Houston, New York,
Washington, and Chicago, and in the
Caribbean states of Haiti and Jamaica.
One prominent program of the church is
the Holy Ghost service, an all-night
miracle service, held on the first Friday of
every month at the Redemption Camp at
Km. 46, Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The
average number of those who attend the
service is about 500,000. The Holy Ghost
service is now also held in London on a

ASUU Calabar Conducts Peaceful Protest Despite Police Presence

Lecturers from the University of Calabar
and Cross River State University of
Technology took to the streets of Calabar,
the Cross River state capital, demanding
that the federal government meet its
demands.
The peaceful protest was carried out
despite the heavy presence of officers
and men of the Nigerian police force.
While reacting to claims that the strike
action was embarked upon for selfish
reasons, the State Chairman of ASUU,
James Ukpiliya said the allegations are
false.

‘Schools merger not to inflict pains’

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola
has said the policy of reclassification of
schools introduced by his administration
is not aimed at inflicting pains on the
people of the state.
According to a statement by the
Director of Communications in the
governor’s office, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon,
on Monday, Aregbesola said this in
Lagos while addressing members of the
Ijesa Society.
The governor spoke just as members of
the traditional religious adherents in the
state berated some Christian and
Muslim groups for opposing the new
education policy.
The traditional believers, led by Mr.
Kayode Esuleke, spoke at a press
conference just as Parents Association
and Parent Teachers Association in the
state also rose in defence of the
governor.
The Chairman of Parents Association,
Dr. Ademola Ekundayo, and the
chairman of PTA, Alhaji Afidat Lawal,
described the new policy as laudable at
a press conference in Osogbo on
Monday.
The governor urged the cooperation
from the people of the state while
explaining that his administration met a
culture of decay in the education sector
and was determined to reverse the
trend.
He said the reformation of the school
feeding system had led to the spending
of N3.6bn every year from primary 1 to
4, which made Osun State the only
state with such policy in the country.
Aregbesola listed other efforts made by
the administration to revamp the sector
such as the distribution of free Opon
Imo (electronic tablet), free uniform,
free meal and others, which had started
yielding positive results in the sector.
The governor said, “On the surface, it
looks as if we are deliberately out to
inflict pains with the reformation of our
school system; nothing close to that is
our intention. We saw a hopeless
situation in our basic education system.
“Because of my experience with the
comatose educational system in the
state that we were about to inherit,
even from the days of my campaigns,
long before we assumed office, I made
it very clear that we would carry out
surgical attack on it when we assume
office.
“We mentioned our intention to the
whole world that we will address the
issue of poor and totally dilapidated
educational infrastructure of basic
education, to aggressively solve the
problem. Some of our policies are
necessary but painful and may not be
well accepted now.”
The governor added, “We are however
convinced that surgery is not always
pleasing and soothing to those who
need it but the joy of recovery and
healing more than compensates for the
temporary pain of going under the knife.
“Rather than look at what we are doing
as the best system to revamp education
and ensure that our students have the
best for our limited resources and to
maximise our resources for excellence
and efficiency, sentiment and primordial
issues were brought into it that
Aregbesola wants to Islamise Osun
State.”

Police confirm death of officer in pirates’ attack

The Bayelsa State Police Command says
that a riot policeman was one of those
killed by sea pirates in Ikebiri
community, Southern Ijaw Local
Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr.
Alex Akhigbe, made this known to
newsmen in Yenagoa on Tuesday.
Akhigbe said the policeman was one of
the passengers of a commercial boat
heading for Koluama community in the
area.
He said the boat was attacked by sea
pirates around 6pm on Friday, October
18.
“Out of the two armed policemen in the
boat, one was reportedly shot dead
after a 15-minute gun battle between
them and the pirates. The survivor, who
sustained serious injuries, is currently
receiving treatment in an undisclosed
hospital,” he said.
Akhigbe said the policemen were on a
private visit from Port Harcourt to
Bayelsa State.

Ember months road crashes not ordained– FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Akwa
Ibom State Command, has said over 90
per cent of road crashes in the country
are attributable to human errors.
The Zonal Head of Operations, Mr.
Shehu Umar, said if risky behaviours like
overloading, speeding, drink driving and
use of cell phones while driving were
avoided, road crashes would be greatly
reduced.
Umar, who represented the Zonal
Commanding Officer, Port Harcourt,
Rivers State, Mrs. Comfort Nwadoka,
said this during the commencement of
the 2013 ‘Ember’ months’ road safety
awareness campaign in Uyo on Monday.
She stated that this year’s campaign was
all-inclusive, as the carnival floats and
motorcade commenced at the same
time at the organisation’s Unit
Commands in Eket, Ikot Ekpene, Abak
and Mbak with the grand finale in Uyo.
She said, “The myth of ‘Ember Months’
has dwelt with us over the years with
many erroneously believing that road
crashes are ordained during this season.
“It is important to note that there is
nothing mysterious about this period,
except that the festive season and the
end of year activities are associated with
increased vehicular movements.
“There is also attendant increase in risky
habits on our roads such as overloading,
speeding, drink driving, use of cell
phones while driving, dangerous driving
and so on. These have naturally resulted
in crashes.
“The rate of killings on our roads in
recent times is unacceptable. Research
has also shown that about 90 per cent
of the causes of road traffic crashes are
human-related.”
Nwadoka added that 82 road traffic
offenders were booked for seat belt
violation in September, 2012 in Akwa
Ibom State. She added that in
September 2013, only four offenders
had been booked for the same offence
in the same state.
She stated that the 90.6 per cent
reduction was as a result of aggressive
public enlightenment and the recent
resolve of the corps to prosecute errant
motorists.

Police stop ASUU protest in Bayelsa

WorldStage Newsonline-- The police on Tuesday stopped street protests organised by the Niger Delta University's chapter of
the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Hilary Opara, issued an order preventing any form of street protest but
allowed the aggrieved university lecturers to hold their protest within the university’s Law Faculty in Yenagoa.
The placard-carrying lecturers later converted their protest to a prayer session where they prayed against all the spirits that
prevented the government from honouring an agreement.
The lecturers also sought divine intervention on all the cases of blackmail and intimidation against the union by the Federal
Government.
Chairman of ASUU-NDU, Beke Sese, who addressed the rally disclosed that the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to Governor
Seriake Dickson interrogated him few hours to the planned protest.
Some of the placards displayed by the lecturers bore messages such as, “Not every child can go to Ghana to study”,
“Agreement is Agreement”, “Government save our universities”, “Poor people’s children need universities”, “Can your child
afford to go to Ghana and Malaysia, if no then join ASUU to better our universities”.
Sese said the 17-week old strike was being sustained by ASUU’s collective resolve to stem the downward trend government
had subjected public education to.
He said the government was “systematically destroying public education through mindless neglect and near total
abandonment”.
He also observed that some opposition politicians had capitalised on the strike to cast aspersions on the government and
thereby trivialising ASUU’s genuine struggle.
Sese said ASUU struggles had been driven by legitimate causes rather than regional, ethnic or any other political
considerations.
He said the on-going strike has presented the government a golden opportunity to make history by revitalising public
universities in Nigeria.
“The “no fund” refrain being proclaimed by government simply reflects a grand design to frustrate the 2009 agreement and
all other procedures related to it. This is most unfortunate.
“Implement fully the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement which offers a veritable road-map towards reversing the decay in the
university system and silence your opposition.
"We are being accused of politicizing the ongoing strike, probably because the current ASUU President is from Northern
Nigeria, while we have a South-South President at the helm of affairs in the country.
"Nothing can be farther from the truth. Please recall that Prof. Jega was once ASUU President, when Gen. Babagida was
ruling Nigeria. They were both from the same Northern region. Dr. Dipo Fasina was also ASUU President during General
Olusegun Obasanjo's first tenure as President of Nigeria.
"Again they were from same western region. The Union also embarked on protracted struggle. We wish to put it on record
that as a union whose members constitute the intellectual cream of society, our struggle has been driven by purely
legitimate causes, rather than regional, ethnic or any other consideration.
"We rather wish to implore this government to see this as a golden opportunity to make history by commencing the process
of revitalizing Nigerian public university to such unprecedented height never before attained by any previous administration.
"Implement fully, the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement which offers a veritable road-map toward reversing the decay in the
university system and silence your opposition."

OUTRAGED by an attack on Nigerian
troops and the death of one of them in
Darfur, the United Nations (UN) at the
weekend urged Sudan to begin an
investigation into the tragic incident.

In a statement by the UN Secretary-
General Ban Ki-moon in New York, the
global body’s condolence was expressed
to the Nigerian government and the
family of the killed soldier, whose name
was yet to be publicly released as at
weekend.
Both the UN Security Council and the
Secretary-General issued statements at
the weekend condemning the attack,
which came after four Nigerian
peacekeepers in Darfur were killed last
October. In its comment, the United
Nations Security Council said the attack
was a targeted onslaught.
The statement also pointedly demanded
that the Sudanese government bring to
justice those behind the attack on the
Nigerian troops.
The United States (U.S.) Charge D’affaires
to Sudan, Joseph Stafford, also warned
that security in Darfur was worsening and
militias should be disarmed, condemning
the recent attack that killed the Nigerian
peacekeeper.
Stafford also expressed grave concern
“about the reports of civilian casualties
and deliberate targeting of civilians by
militias in Muhagiriya and Labado”, the
region where the Nigerian peacekeeper
died on Friday.
He told reporters it is not yet clear who
carried out the “deeply troubling” attack
against the base of the UNAMID near
Muhagiriya town in southern Darfur.
But he said there was an “urgent” need
for an investigation bringing those
responsible to justice.
“We’re worried about the deteriorating
security situation in Darfur and the
conflict between the government forces
and the militia”, Stafford said.
The UN Secretary-General “is appalled and
saddened by the fatal shooting of a
Nigerian UNAMID peacekeeper by
unidentified armed assailants during an
attack today on a UNAMID military
position in Muhajeria, East Darfur,” a
statement on Friday from the UN head
office in New York disclosed.
The statement added that “two
peacekeepers were also injured in the
incident.”
Ban condemned “in the strongest terms
those responsible for the attack and
called on the authorities to immediately
hold the perpetrators criminally
accountable.”
Forty-four international peacekeepers
have been killed so far in Darfur where
the UN deployed troops since 2007. A
good number of them are believed to be
from Nigeria, the country with the largest
contingent in the United Nations Mission
in Darfur (UNIMAD).
The UN Secretary-General expressed “his
deepest condolences to the government
of Nigeria and to the family and
colleagues of the fallen peacekeeper.”
Besides, the UN scribe expressed concern
about “ the restrictions imposed on
UNAMID and humanitarian actors by the
Sudanese authorities, which are
preventing the delivery of aid to civilians
affected by recent clashes between
Government and Sudan Liberation Army-
Minni Minawi forces in Muhajeria and
Labado, East Darfur.”
Ban “calls on the authorities to
immediately allow UNAMID and
humanitarian actors to have full and
unhindered access to civilians in need of
assistance.”
In a similar vein, the members of the
Security Council also “condemned in the
strongest terms the targeted attack by
unidentified assailants on UNAMID
(African Union-United Nations Hybrid
Operation in Darfur) peacekeepers at the
Muhajeria Base Camp in Darfur on April
19, which resulted in the death of a
Nigerian soldier and left two others
wounded.”
The council added that “the members of
the Security Council expressed their
condolences to the family of the
peacekeeper killed in the attack, as well
as to the Government of Nigeria and
UNAMID. They called on the Government
of Sudan to swiftly investigate the
incident and bring the perpetrators to
justice.”
The members of the Security Council
reiterated their full support for UNAMID
and called on all parties in Darfur to
cooperate fully with the mission.
IF nothing is done to bridge the capacity
gap that would arise from the retirement
of top civil servants starting from mid this
year to the end of 2013, the efficiency of
the Nigerian foreign service, and by
extension, her international enterprise
could be hurt.
This and other fears were expressed at
the weekend about the deeper, futuristic
implications of the administrative circular
that now mandates a certain cadre of
officers (directors) to step out of service
after eight years, irrespective of age or
overall service years.
Sources within and outside the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs have revealed that even
though the retirement age (60) and
service years (35) were in themselves
policies geared towards addressing service
issues, the “abnormal” manpower
deficiencies that have gone unaddressed
for years would catch up with the nation’s
foreign service, which could now lose
about 75 per cent of its well horned, top
level, resourceful and versatile officers.
Indeed, diplomats and advisory
statesmen had not too long ago
conceived a memo to draw the attention
of President Goodluck Jonathan to the
consequences of the disengagement
policy on the nation’s external interests.
Warning of the “obvious signs of paralysis
that would soon catch up with the
ministry,” which would further contribute
to the decline of Nigeria’s engagement
abroad, sources pointed at the “near
absence of coherent, systematic and
spread-out training scheme organised by
the Office of the Head of Service or
designated services to “address the
deficiency from our higher institutions to
guide new entrants up to the middle-level
cadre of the service.”
“The gap we are speaking about is gaping,
you can all see it. We do not want this to
happen and then we start complaining
after the damage,” a source said Sunday.
“Yes, this policy has been in use for about
four years now but its broad ranging
implications are about to catch up with
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which
unfortunately has not designed any
special human institutional memory
training to take care of the gaps now
being opened.”
Worse still, they dismissed as “ad-hoc”
the training scheme now being organised
by the Office of the Head of Civil Service
of the Federation, maintaining that it
“does not address the sustainability,
imperative necessity of a vibrant service,”
such as the foreign service.
According to them, the scheme does not
have the international best standards that
could “productively grow the service,” and
currently in Nigeria, only the Armed
Forces “can boast such systematic and
targeted results-oriented service, the
reason it is still sustainable and reliable.”
Nevertheless, the experts also thumped
down the operations of the Nigerian
Foreign Service Academy (FSA) in
Badagry, contending that the school has
not been able to bring about “remarkable
improvements” in the fortunes of the
foreign service in terms of “practical
aspects of the work of the foreign service
officers.”
The FSA, they stressed, only targets new
entrants to the exclusion of middle career
officers. The practical aspects of the
foreign service officers were identified to
include “complex issues such as analysis
of international events, negotiation skills,
writing of reports, speeches and
memoranda, to mundane ones as
classification of files and routine
minutes.”
However, the Foreign Affairs Minister,
Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru, told The
Guardian that there was no cause for
alarm over the gap that might be created
by the exit due to the retirement policy.
He insisted that rife as the gap might be,
the ministry was putting in place
machinery that could guarantee stability
in its manpower planning and
progression.

groups: (1) The first son says “no”
and later has a change of heart, and
the second son says “yes” but does not
go. The second son is called the one
who does his father’s will! This
reading is found in the Western
manuscripts. But the reading is so
hard as to be next to impossible. One
can only suspect some tampering
with the text (e.g., that the Pharisees
would indeed give lip-service to
obedience and would betray
themselves in their very response) or
extreme carelessness on the part of
the scribe. (Either option, of course,
is not improbable with this particular
texttype, and with codex D in
particular.) The other two major
variants are more difficult to assess.
Essentially, the responses are sensical
(the son who does his father’s will is
the one who changes his mind after
saying “no”: (2) The first son says
“no” and later has a change of heart,
and the second son says “yes” but
does does not go. But here, the first
son is called the one who does his
father’s will (unlike the Western
reading). This is the reading found in
C* L W D Byz and many itala and
Syriac witnesses. (3) The first son
says “yes” but does not go, and the
second son says “no” but later has a
change of heart. This is the reading
found in B Q f 700 and several
versional witnesses.
Both of these latter two readings
make good sense and have
significantly better textual support
than the first reading. The real
question, then, is: Is the first son or
the second the obedient one? If we
were to argue simply from the
parabolic logic, we would tend to see
the second son as the obedient one
(hence, the third reading). The first
son would represent the Pharisees
(or Jews) who claim to obey God, but
do not (cf. Matt 23:3 ). This comports
well with the parable of the prodigal
son (in which the oldest son
represents the unbelieving Jews).
Further, the chronological sequence
of the second son being obedient fits
well with the real scene: Gentiles and
tax collectors and prostitutes are not,
collectively, God’s chosen people, but
they do repent and come to God,
while the Jewish leaders claimed to
be obedient to God but did nothing.
At the same time, the external
evidence is weaker for this reading
(though stronger than the first
reading), not as widespread, and
certainly doubtful because of how
neatly it fits. One suspects scribal
manipulation at this point. (One
might even conjecture that the
Western reading originated from
some attempt to smooth things out,
but the scribe got confused along the
way and created a worse blunder,
just as several Georgian witnesses
seemed to do.) Thus, the second
reading looks to be superior to the
other two on both external and
transcriptional grounds.
When one comes to the
interpretation of the parable, it is of
course possible that we ought not
overinterpret. Jesus didn’t always
give predictable responses.
Chronological sequencing was not
necessarily a part of the parabolic
package. For example, in the
eschatological parable of the wheat
and darnel ( Matt 13:24-30 ), it is the
darnel that is gathered first and
thrown into the furnace; but in the
eschatological parable of the sheep
and goats ( Matt 25:31-46 ), the sheep
go into the kingdom first, then the
goats receive their punishment (vv.
34, 46). We must be careful not to
make parables walk on all fours; that
is, not every point in the parable has
interpretive correspondence.
However, in this instance, the
sequencing seems to be intentional—
and many scribes, though trying to
improve on the logic of the
presentation, missed the rhetorical
power of Jesus’ message. The Lord
seems to have painted a picture in
which the Pharisees saw themselves
as the first son. They would have
regarded themselves as in a place of
privilege, the first ones chosen by
God, and those who actually obeyed
the Father’s will. (One is reminded of
the ancient rabbinic prayer: “I thank
you, Lord, that you did not make me
a woman or a Gentile”!) Then came
the O’Henry twist: The Pharisees are
not the first son, but the second. They
are not the ones who have obeyed
their heavenly Father, but the tax
collectors and prostitutes are! In
some respects, this chronological
reversal is reminiscent of Nathan’s
approach to King David when he
pointed out his sin with Bathsheba
( 2 Sam 12:1-7 ). Both Nathan and
Jesus ‘set up’ the hearers to elicit a
certain response (that of indignation
at the disobedient one in the story),
only to show that those very hearers
were not on the side of
righteousness.
Thus, when one looks at the internal
coherence of the story, it seems
evident that the Western reading
flattens out the mystery and presents
the Pharisees as not only unrighteous
but blithering idiots. But such a lack
of subtlety was probably not a part of
the story or the historical situation.
And the third reading improves the
text—at first glance—but in reality
seems to unravel the rich tapestry
that is being woven by the Master
Teacher himself.

LIFE AND MISSION OF THE MAN "JOSEPH AYO BABALOLA"

Life and mission
Babalola was born of Yoruba
parents at Ilofa, Nigeria, and was
brought up as an Anglican. He
was registered at an elementary
school at Oto-Awori on Badagry
road in 1919. Having left
elementary school, he was
employed in the Public Works
Department as a steam roller
operator. On October 11, 1928,
while trying to repair his
machine, he heard an audible
voice from the Lord to abandon
the job and start preaching. He
then joined Faith Tabernacle in
Lagos, which was related to an
American Pentecostal
organization.
In September 1930, Babalola,
through the power of God, raised
a dead boy to life. This divinely
kicked off The Great Revival of
1930, which saw people coming
from most parts of Africa and
diaspora without posters and TV
adverts. From then on, with bell
and Yoruba Bible in hand, he
toured Yorubaland and eastern
Nigeria, preaching about
repentance, and renunciation of
idolatry, the importance of prayer
and fasting, and the power of
God to heal sickness.
In 1930 Faith Tabernacle
affiliated with the British
Apostolic Church. Then following
a schism in the Apostolic Church
about 1940, Bablola went with a
new independent church, Christ
Apostolic Church (CAC), where
he continued his healing and
revivalistic activities until his
death. The CAC regards Babalola
as an apostle and his revival
ministry as the beginning of the
church. A CAC retreat center was
built at Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State
where Babalola was first called in
1928.
The Christ Apostolic Church has
not died along with Apostle
Joseph Ayo Babalola in 1959. As
a matter of fact it has grown
rapidly over the years, with many
churches under the Christ
Apostolic Church name but each
church with a specific branch
name.

into the temple at the hour of prayer,
being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his
mother’s womb was carried, whom they
laid daily at the gate of the temple which
is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them
that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go
into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him
with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting
to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I
none; but such as I have give I thee: In
the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise
up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and
lifted him up: and immediately his feet

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR : MARK 14 – 16.
Flying is the best method of motion. It is
faster and usually safer than road
transport. However, before you can fly,
there is a major force you must
overcome: this is the force of gravity. The
force of gravity is a force that is out there
to pull down anything that goes up.
Although this force operates in the
physical realm, you have a similar force
operating in the spiritual realm. There are
three main areas that can pull you down
spiritually as you attempt to climb up or
to fly: first is sickness and disease. Many
times, people would want to get up and
fly for the Lord but sickness and disease
will pull them back. In John 5 : 2 – 9, we
read of a man who was held back for 38
years. For that length of time, he was
restricted to the colony of the sick. Do
you desire to fly for Jesus and to
accomplish great things for the Master,
but sickness or disease is holding you
back? In the name of Jesus, that force of
sickness and disease operating in your life
is broken this minute! Remember as you
receive your healing, it is for you to go
and serve the Lord.
Another force that could keep an
individual from flying is poverty. The man
born lame recorded in Acts 3 : 1 – 8 was
not only incapacitated by his inability to
walk, but also by poverty, hence he
begged all his life for alms until the day
he was healed. It is usually the rich that
mostly travel by air, most poor people
cannot afford to fly. When Pharaoh
agreed to let the Israelites go, he told
them to leave their flocks and wealth
behind. If you are born-again but poor,
you may not be a great threat to the
devil. In fact, he will even want to
discourage you because you lack the
resources to live and serve God. But if
you are saved and wealthy, the devil will
be scared because he knows that you will
be able to serve God, sponsor Kingdom
projects, help fellow brothers and sisters
in need and use that money to win souls
to Christ. Are you financially limited
today! That yoke is destroyed today!
However, pay up all your tithe and vows
to God. Sow sacrificial seed into His
Kingdom, release your faith and it shall be
well with you.
PRAYER POINT :
Every spiritual gravitational pull meant to
hinder my motion, Father, uproot them
today.

"But when Herod heard, he said, "This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!" Mark 6:16 (NKJV) Herod was haunted by his past. He had beheaded the greatest evangelist of his time, John the Baptist. His immoral lifestyle, Mark 6:17-18reckless utterance Mark 6:22-23 and family pressure Mark 6:24-28 had actually taken the best of him. Rather than see Christ at work, all he could see was the ghost of the man whose life he took in his prime. Sin enslaves man. When it is concealed or denied, it torments the soul. Proverbs 28:13 Whoever is enslaved by sin lives in perpetual fear. He is either afraid of being exposed, or afraid of being called to face the consequences. Proverbs 13:21-22 What are you haunted by? Don’t you think it's time to come clean? Each day of your denial puts immeasurable pressure on your heart. And every pressure on your heart affects several vital organ in your body. Besides, what about the God factor? Do you think you can escape the judgment of God without genuinely confessing your sin? Don't you think it is important for you to repent and ask God to forgive you? Until that is done, your prayers will remain unanswered. The Scripture says: "The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness has seized the hypocrites." Isaiah 33:14 Stop running from God. Stop living in fear. Stop putting the people around into avoidable trouble. Jonah 1 Turn in to God. Make your ways right with your maker. It is not too late for you to be restored into the household of faith. God is waiting for the moment you will own up to Him. If you do it now, you can be forgiven. Do not delay. Today's Memory Verse: "I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD," And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah" Psalm 32:5 (NKJV) PRAYER POINT: Forgive me Lord and deliver me from fear. Bible Text: Matthew 3:11 “I indeed
baptize you with water unto
repentance. but he that cometh after
me is mightier than I, whose shoes I
am not worthy to bear: he shall
baptize you with the Holy Ghost,
and with fire:”
Jesus is the one who baptises us with
the Holy Ghost and fire. In Colossians
1:27, bible says ‘Christ in you, the hope
of glory’. You see, the most important
things in the world are the things
which cannot be seen. For example the
heart, liver, blood cannot be seen but
they are extremely important in the
human body. The things inside of us
are very important; the internal things
control the external.
Faith for example is an internal thing,
you cannot wear it like a dress yet
according Mark 11:22-23 bible says
faith can move mountains.
Love is also an internal thing; you
cannot write on your forehead ‘I have
love’ yet songs of Solomon 8:6 says
love is strong as death
In John 6:54-56, Jesus says if you eat
his flesh and drink his blood then He’ll
dwell in you. When we come to the
Holy Communion table and take the
bread (which represents His body)
and wine (which represents His
blood), we are putting inside us
symbolic element of the body and
blood of Jesus Christ. Taking the Holy
Communion gives us an assurance that
our life will be glorious because the
bible says Christ in you is the hope of
glory.
When you eat the bread and take the
wine, you are saying to anything that
causes shame in your life to get out
because shame is the opposite of glory.
As you partake in the Holy
Communion, every sickness or demon
hiding in your body will vanish in Jesus
name. Amen.
What is it about being baptised in the
Holy Ghost and fire? When Jesus
baptises you with the Holy Ghost and
fire, tremendous power is released
into you.
Acts 1:8 says “But ye shall receive
power, after that the Holy Ghost is come
upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto
me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea,
and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost
part of the earth .”
God expects you to leave this
convention unable to keep your mouth
shut, telling people how powerful Jesus
is. God expects you to be His witnesses
and that is why He’s willing to give you
power.
According to Acts 2:1-4 , when the fire
of God falls upon you, you receive
utterance to speak in tongues. For
those of you who have never spoken in
tongues before, tonight after taking
the Holy Communion, God will surprise
you. Amen!
What happens to you when the fire
falls depends on you? When the fire
falls it either fills or consumes you. In
Judges 15:14-16, when the Spirit of the
LORD came mightily upon Samson, the
cords that was binding him loosed.
When the fire of God descends on you,
every yoke binding you will be
destroyed by fire in Jesus name.
Amen.
However in 2 Kings chapter 1, when
the fire of God of God came down, it
consumed all Elijah’s enemies. If you
are not of God and the fire falls, there
will be nothing left of you other than
ashes! So if you are still yet to give
your life to Jesus, please do so now!
The bible says the life of an animal is
in its blood (Lev17:11), this means the
very life of God is in the blood of Jesus.
Taking the Holy Communion also fills
you with the life of God (John 6:53)
PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank God for the body and blood
of Jesus Christ.
2. Father, let anything in my life that
can cause shame go tonight.
3. Father let your fire consume
anything in my life that will make my
enemies say “where is your God

A servant is a person working for a higher person by doing his will.
As christians we are servants of God because we
been called to do his will.therefore if we dont do his will then we are not worthy to be called his servants.
Watching means to patiently look or observe something.We are to patiently observe the way we live our lives so that we will not wander from god's will unknowingly,and that we may at the end be fit for his kingdom.God is telling us to keep watching because his kingdom is at hand.
Matthew25:1-46.
God is emphasizing on the word "WATCH" not because of anything but because his coming will be sudden and he Himself doesnt know when he will be coming.luke29:3-34,matthew26:36-41..
As God's children are we realy.watching or allowing the devil sweep us away.

WITHOUT GOD

I cannot think of anything that makes
clearer the urgent need for proclaiming the
Gospel to every creature, than the subject
of Eternal life after death. True, other
religions are out there. But anyone who
surveys them will know they are totally
empty of any Gospel promise. The mind
cults of the East would offer only transient
benefits, even if they did work. But the
Gospel has more than mere mental poise
in view. The efforts the cults insist must be
made to achieve harmony with nature are
not worthwhile. Jesus did not come to give
us religious feelings or to suggest to us a
system of mind power. He came to save
us, not to explain how our "inner
resources" can be tapped to save
ourselves. Jesus was not a teacher of TM,
or Quietism, or Stoicism. He was and is,
first and foremost, a Savior. As for other
religions, which of them offers eternal life
now? Some only promise the end of
existence. The teachings of "Karma" see
life as such a misery that obliteration is the
only way out! Then there is the Paradise
promise, which consists of endless sensual
pleasure. Unending gluttony and
everlasting lust sound more like hell than
heaven to me. The supreme wonder of the
Gospel is its present realization of Life—life
of such quality that it cannot fade for
eternity. Jesus said to her, "I am the
resurrection and the life. He who believes
in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
And whoever lives and believes in Me shall
never die. Do you believe this?" (John

EZEKIEL36:1 “And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel,  and say, ‘O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD!
:2Thus says the Lord GOD: “Because the enemy has said of you,  ‘Aha! The ancient heights have become our possession,’ ”:3therefore prophesy, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Because  they made you desolate and swallowed you up on every side,  so that you became the possession of the rest of the nations,  and you are taken up by the lips of talkers and slandered by the  people” Why did God use the word "they have made you desolate" to a mountain?God was saying they made the mountains desolate because the people were afraid of going to their mountains,since they were major entrances to Jerusalem and they were afraid of the enemies at the gate.The mountain (or hill,ref:psalm121:1"I will lift up my eyes to the hills From whence comes my help?") stands for one's spiritual altar,and your altar is an entrance for either the spirit of God or an evil spirit.When an altar is built the first question is;"is it for the spirit of God or the spirit of the Devil",this is so that if a man's altar is disrespected or misused or abandoned,it may harbour an enemy and become a base of attack from which the enemy will begin to attack.That was why when God's word came,it didnt go to the Israelites themselves,it went directly to their altars which were their mountains from the very begining,and God knew that was where the enemy was using as the base from which they attacked the Israelites (ezekiel36:2).If we look at how God began His walk with the Israelites through Moses,we will see that it all began from the mountain (mount Horeb) and even after that,from time to time we saw that Moses will always go to the mountain to hear from God.That sinply means that highlands,particularly mountains were significant geographical structures to the Israelites and that was what confused the syrians in 2Kings20:23 when they taught the God of the Israelites was the God of the mountain,little did they know that HE was ominipresent but He only used the mountain as a medium of communication between HIM and the Israelites.IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE ENEMY TO DEFEAT YOU ON YOUR ALTAR WHEN YOUR GOD IS NOT ABSENT.What and where is that mountain of communication between you and God?,where exactly is that place that when you go,you do not come back without hearing and communicating with God?For some people its when you.are worshipping God during your quiet time,for others its when you are praying during your quiet time,while others hear God the most while studying their Bible during their quiet time.It could also be anywhere,for some its in the living room,others in the bedroom,dining room,office,classrom or even the toilet.However it is also sad that some people do not have personal altars which is supposed to stand as their mount of transfiguration,little wonder they keep getting spiritual and physical attacks since the spiritual controls the physical.Even Jesus knew the significance of a personal alter and because of that,the Bible records that HE was always at Gethsemane to pray,and that was what made it easy for Judas Iscariot to betray HIM because he knew HE would always be at the mount praying at that time and that was why the Bible records it in John28:2 "And  Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the  place; for Jesus often met there with His  disciples. ".Our mountains (personal altars) should not be a tourist centre where we visit once in a while when we are troubled,it should be a part of us,unfortunately some people don't even have a personal altar and that makes it easy for the enemy to strike them.I pray that God will open our eyes and give us the understanding of how importantly we should take our personal altars(mountains).
Revelation3:1-3 1 “And to the angel of the church in  Sardis write,  ‘These things says He who has the  seven Spirits of God and the seven stars:  “I know your works, that you have a  name that you are alive, but you are  dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the  things which remain, that are ready to  die, for I have not found your works  perfect before God. 3 Remember  therefore how you have received and  heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore if  you will not watch, I will come upon you  as a thief, and you will not know what  hour I will come upon you.
